Nollywood actress and producer Adanma Luke has issued a passionate appeal to Nigerians for forgiveness following the sad boat accident that claimed the lives of five people, including actor John Odonwodo, well known as Junior Pope.
While filming “The Other Side of Life,” her movie, in April, Luke released an emotional video on her Instagram page expressing her great grief and guilt for the situation.
Since the incident, Adanma has been dealing with depression and has been unable to work. She has accepted the criticism she has received online and asked for forgiveness and understanding. She clarified that although she had asked for a safer place to film the film and had received assurances from her team that it was safe, she had not been given life jackets for the crew.
The actress also talked about her battles with depression and how, ever since the incident, she has been unable to approach anyone about jobs. She made it clear that she is not God and that the accident was not her fault, but she is still dealing with the fallout.
Adanma Luke’s appeal for forgiveness comes after the movie production ban placed on her by the Actors Guild of Nigeria was lifted.
Sharing the video, she wrote:
“I’m sorry this had to happen to me. I’m not God but please you all should put yourself in my shoes. It’s not easy on me and believe me i still need your prayers🙏🏾.”
