Afrobeats artist, Davido has finally hosted Bright Chimezie, a seasoned Nigerian highlife artist, in Lagos.
On Friday, Chimezie danced to the song “With You,” a collaboration with Omah Lay, and thanked Davido for the sample credit of his 2010 hit single “Because of English.”
Davido also said he wanted to meet the soldier in person and thanked him for being an inspiration.
The “With You” singer posted a video of Chimezie pulling up to his place in a fancy car on Instagram on Monday.
They were speaking, singing some of his songs, and waiting to be served when the veteran was led into what looked like a restaurant.

Davido’s verse in ‘With You’ — “If I speak English, oh-oh, Cho-cho-cho, no working, I no wan punish, woah, woah. I want to punish you, idiarabanko” — closely mirrors Chimezie’s original lyrics, coming across as a creative spin or tribute to the veteran’s signature lines.
This isn’t the first time entertainers have reconnected with veteran singers.
