Nigerian activist and skit maker Mr. Macaroni responds to a video that shows Davido’s assistant, Lati, brutally attacking fans who tried to talk to the musician.
A fan tried to get closer to Davido and his crew members to snap a selfie, but Lati smacked the guy in a video that went viral. Another video captured the incident in which Lati also gave a man who approached her for a handshake a slap.
Expressing his disapproval, Mr. Macaroni condemned the incident, denoting it as dehumanizing. He argued that it was unnecessary to assault fans who simply wished to take pictures with their favourite artist.
Moreover, Mr Macaroni advised fans to seek permission before attempting to take pictures with celebrities. He stressed the importance of mutual respect in interactions between fans and celebrities.
He wrote:
“This is sad and highly condemnable!!! There is no need for this assault. This is dehumanizing and I speak against it because I know exactly how this feels.
The change that we all seek must begin with us!!!”.
“Please, if you must take pictures with any of your favorite celebrities, kindly seek permission so that you are not seen as a threat. Respect is reciprocal.
We must respect the privacy of our celebrities and Celebrities must also learn to treat our fans with respect and dignity”.
