Nollywood actors, Kunle and Aremu Afolayan have publicly ended their long-standing feud.

The reconciliation took place during the wake-keep ceremony for their mother, who passed away on November 2 at the age of 81.

The rift between the brothers gained public attention in 2018 when Kunle, in an interview, referred to Aremu as “stupid”.

Aremu had claimed that their father lived in poverty despite Kunle’s fame.

Since then, Aremu has engaged in several public outbursts against Kunle and other family members.

The most recent incident occurred in March 2023, when Aremu criticised his family for not buying him a car.

However, at their mother’s wake-keep on Friday, Aremu disclosed that their mother had made numerous attempts to reconcile them before her passing.

He recounted her prayers and efforts, which eventually led to their reunion.

Aremu also tearfully apologised for the public attacks on Kunle.

“My mother tried a lot because I had run away from her many times when they said I should go to school,” he said.

“I said I am not going to high school. My brother (Kunle) punched me for why I didn’t want to go to school.

“My greatest joy today is what has been difficult for me for over 40 years. My mother gave it to me one day because my brother and I don’t talk, but my mother made us talk.

“She didn’t stop praying because I (Aremu) am the black sheep in the family. I disagree with my brother; he has no excuses because they said we resemble each other.”

The Afolayan brothers are sons of Ade Love, the late iconic filmmaker and theatre legend.

Their other siblings are Moji Afolayan (sister), Gabriel Afolayan (brother), and Anu Afolayan (brother).
