Nigerian Fuji icon, King Wasiu Ayinde, famously dubbed Kwam1 or K1, has finally broken his silence regarding the allegations of mistreatment brought forth by his former drummer, Kunle Ayanlowo.

Reports state that a few days ago, Kunle revealed in an open interview the severe treatment she received while working with K1, painting a picture of purported control and exploitation.

In an interview, he said that K1 had treated the other band members and himself like slaves. Kunle recounted incidents in which K1 allegedly took their passports and exerted control over their travels after returning to Nigeria.

Kunle described a traumatic experience in which he said Kwam 1 made him decide not to seek immediate medical assistance. Due to the incident, he still has health worries. Kunle asked Nigerians to hold K1 responsible if something bad were to happen to him.

In a characteristically musical Instagram response, Kwam1 took aim at the accusations directly, asking Kunle to stop spreading lies and perhaps warn others about the effect of dishonest people in his group.

He emphasised his contribution to Kunle’s ascent from obscurity and conveyed his displeasure at what he saw as an attempt to damage his reputation.

His words, translated from Yoruba to English;

“Lairs and naysayers get away from me, stop lying. Trying to damage the reputation that raised you when you were a nobody. Disassociate from liars, you have nothing to gain from them”.
