The late, iconic actor John Okafor, fondly known as Mr Ibu, who died from a lengthy struggle with illness on March 2, 2024, was finally laid to rest on a sombre Friday, June 28, 2024.
His birthplace of Amuri, which is in the Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, hosted the mournful yet magnificent service, which drew a sizable contingent of mourners.

The procession created a strong and intensely emotional mood as it moved to the beat of lively, lively music.
The parade abruptly stopped in front of Mr. Ibu’s house, shocking observers and leaving them speechless. After that, the coffin was ceremoniously brought inside and placed in his sitting room, signifying a unique and incredibly intimate final resting place.
His coworkers, Charles Inojie, Charles Awurum, and Victor Osuagwu, were among the witnesses. They, along with family members and grave diggers, mournfully covered the ground of the just excavated grave in the living room, participating in a moment of shared sorrow and adoration.
The funeral ceremony continued with even more notable personalities paying their respects. Figures such as Shatta Bandle, Bob Manuel, and a host of other celebrities and dignitaries were present, further highlighting the significant impact Mr. Ibu had on the entertainment industry and beyond.
