Colombian music star Shakira has unveiled the lead track for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The song, titled ‘Dai Dai’, features Grammy-winning Nigerian artiste Burna Boy.

The announcement was made on Thursday through a joint video shared by Shakira, Burna Boy, and FIFA.

In the video, Shakira performs choreographed dance routines with a group of dancers at Brazil’s iconic Maracanã Stadium, while the costumes worn by the dancers represented the colours of participating countries.

‘Dai Dai’ delivers a message centred on resilience and inner strength, blending reggaetón influences with Afrobeats to reflect the musical styles of both artistes.

“You from the day you were born/ here in the space you belong … what broke you once, made you strong,” she sings.

The complete track is scheduled for release on May 14.

The song marks Shakira’s return to World Cup music 12 years after ‘Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’, which became one of the most memorable World Cup anthems during the 2010 tournament in South Africa.

A revised version titled ‘La La La (Brazil 2014)’ was later released on May 27 as the second official theme song for the 2014 FIFA World Cup album.
