Reality TV star and entertainer Hazel Onou, popularly known as Whitemoney, has expressed concerns over what he described as increasing financial demands in Nigeria’s dating scene, jokingly asking fans for a “referral code” to help him find a suitable partner.
The 34-year-old winner of Big Brother Naija Season Six shared his thoughts in a video posted on his Instagram page, @whitemoney_, on Sunday.
“I can’t even lie, I’m getting old. Dating culture in Nigeria is becoming something else.
“Abeg, where them dey see better woman now? Una get referral code?
“Any small thing, billing. Small hello, billing. How are you? Billing,” he said.
The comment, which appeared to be humorous, generated reactions from social media users, with some agreeing that modern dating has become challenging while others suggested the entertainer might not be searching in the right places.
A fan, @paulwains, commented: “This is me few mins ago man. Not just in Nigeria, dating culture in the world messed up man.”
Another user, @kaluukanwa, wrote: “Better woman full everywhere, even in this Lagos, but sadly they aren’t your spec.”
Also reacting, @vickyblinks_1 teased the entertainer, saying: “E dey but una dey find una fellow celebrity.”
Whitemoney, who clocked 34 on June 6, gained nationwide recognition after emerging winner of the sixth season of Big Brother Naija in 2021. He has since remained active in the entertainment industry, including music.
