Popular Nigerian music producer Samklef has offered his thoughts on why award-winning artist Davido is frequently disrespected, despite his well-known generosity.
His remarks followed a recent incident in which Kortney, a social media influencer, accused Davido of preventing her from posting their interview online.
Samklef claimed in a string of social media posts that Davido’s method of lending a hand to others might be the root of this seeming disrespect.
He made a comparison to fellow musician Olamide, who, like Davido, has supported many emerging artists but experiences significantly less hostility from the general population.
Samklef expressed the belief that Davido’s generosity sometimes seems conditional, alleging that the singer gives with an expectation for recognition and a desire for control.
He argued that Davido should stop adopting a victim mentality, asserting that he invites disrespect upon himself by trying to look good in the eyes of others.
Samklef wrote:
“Olamide has helped a lot of people than davido why are people not disrespecting him ? Davido brought it to himself! This is what happen when you are always trying to look good in the eyes of everybody! You Dey help base on expectation! Base on control.
I gat love for him he just need to stop playing victims!”
