Nigerian actress Kate Henshaw has spoken about the lingering question surrounding her friendship with colleague Genevieve Nnaji.
Speaking on a recent episode of the ‘Tea With Tay’ podcast, Henshaw said she is unsure what led to the distance between them.
“We grew apart. We were close and we used to go to events together and then there was that gap…I don’t know what happened, I don’t know what came over her but hey, I moved on,” she said.
Reflecting on the situation, Henshaw said people enter one’s life for different reasons and seasons.
“I say this with hindsight: People are in your life for different reasons and seasons,” she said.
“Some are roots, some are branches, some are leafs. That’s how it is through life. Roots would always be roots.”
In 2023, she also revisited the topic, explaining that while she still cares for Genevieve, she tends to withdraw from people at times.
“Genevieve, we have had our issues but not big issues you know,” Henshaw said.
“I have loved her. You know sometimes she pulls away. She pulls away from everybody and you’re like, ‘Am I smelling?’”.
In January 2022, Genevieve Nnaji unfollowed everyone on Instagram and deleted all her posts, sparking public speculation.
Shortly after, rumours circulated that she was dealing with a mental health challenge. However, in March 2022, the actress reflected publicly on mental health.
