Former Big Brother Naija housemate Seyi Awolowo is convinced that gospel artists should be compensated for their performances as well as praised for their talent.

Seyi Awolowo highlighted the amount of labour and commitment required to create gospel music and made the case that, like other artists, gospel singers need to be compensated for their time and labour.

He stated that it’s okay for them to generate money off of their songs, stressing that they too have obligations.

He expressed this in a recent interview with Hip TV when questioned if gospel artistes should be paid for their talents.

Seyi Awolowo said:

“If you got a talent, you gotta make your money. So because of religion someone shouldn’t get paid? We need to knock that mindset out. We literally need to take out that sentiment.

“Let’s actually build on ourselves. If you have a talent if you can monetise it the right way, do so. You need to sell your talent.”

In another story, Seyi Awolowo chooses better who the better singer is between Davido and Wizkid.

In a recent chat with Hip TV, the reality star who is also the grandson of Obafemi Awolowo was asked to choose between Wizkid and Davido and after dilly-dallying, he eventually picked Wizkid. Seyi Awolowo said:

“No, don’t do that to me. These are our national treasures. Don’t make me choose one. Please, don’t do that to me [laughs].

“…Wow! Okay, I would say Wiz [Wizkid].”

Asked to choose between Alibaba and AY, Seyi said, “Wow! Alibaba.”

He also said he would choose Headies over Grammys, and AMVCA over Oscars.
