Renowned actor and producer Femi Adebayo has shared the pivotal moment he decided to pursue acting over a legal career.
Adebayo, who holds a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Ibadan, revealed that he was working as a lawyer earning ₦20,000 monthly, while acting remained just a hobby at the time.
In a conversation with Pulse, he recalled receiving an acting gig that offered ₦50,000 for just three days of work — a turning point that made him realise that acting was his true passion.
He said: “Honestly speaking, that was when I started working as a lawyer. My salary then was just N20,000 on a monthly basis And acting was a hobby for me all this while. So not until they invited me for acting roles, they were ready to pay me N50,000 for three days. And as a lawyer, I was getting N20,000 for one month. I said, Femi, this acting is your calling. That was when I decided that I would abandon law practice and face entertainment fully”.
This opportunity prompted him to abandon his law practice and fully embrace a career in entertainment, leveraging both his natural talent and his family’s legacy in the industry — being the son of veteran actor Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello.
