Media personality Toke Makinwa has given an explanation for why she attacked 2baba following his social media announcement of his divorce from his wife, Annie Idibia Macauley.
Toke shared her opinions on Instagram, saying that although she is in favour of people ending problematic marriages, 2baba’s timing was wrong.
There is more to the story than meets the eye, according to Toke, and 2baba should not have posted the news online given the couple’s already high level of public scrutiny.
She underlined the value of timing and empathy, speculating that 2baba’s behaviour might have contributed to the negative perception of the pair.
She wrote:
“Nobody is asking anybody to stay in a situation that’s not serving them any purpose anymore. By all means, leave if you just want, but why bring this online at this very moment?
“We know what’s going on behind closed doors. The world doesn’t know anything; it’s already been hectic with opinions flying around, and when I say we will fight for her, I’m not talking about the general public.
“A handful of people know the truth and time will tell. Timing is everything. Empathy is everything.
“You constantly preach love, you cannot add to the narrative that’s out here when you know what is happening behind closed doors”.
