Renowned Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) said he dislikes being referred to as a legend.
The movie star stated in an interview on Curiosity Made Me Ask that he doesn’t accept the title since he believes it to be a “scam.”
He stated that he doesn’t yet recognise himself in that category and that actors like Olu Jacobs and Pete Edochie are the ones who genuinely deserve the moniker of legends.
He clarified that a name like that gives the impression that he is nearing retirement and is past his best.
“I think all those legend thing is a scam. I have my legends like uncle Olu Jacobs, uncle Peter, those are our ancestors, our legends,” he said.
“I was still watching him when he was saying Ribena children are healthy children.
“So I don’t subscribe to that, I think it is a scam when they call me legend because they are trying to relegate me to that neighbourhood of retired people or should be nearing retirement. So, no, I don’t subscribe to it.”
