Nollywood producer Toyin Abraham has explained why King Sunny Ade was featured in her most recent film, “Alakada! Bad and Boujee.”
Portable, Isbae U, and Opeyemi Famakin were among the star-studded cast members of the film, which was released in theatres across the country on December 20.
Abraham clarified in a Nollywood on Radio interview that the legendary juju singer was specifically chosen to give the narrative a more genuine feel.
According to the film’s producer, she aimed to create a singular experience and surprise audiences with something “unbelievable.”
Working with Sunny Ade was “one of the best things that happened to me in 2024,” Abraham said, despite the difficulties she faced in getting him on board.
“I featured Sunny Ade because I wanted a different feel. I wanted the movie to be real because we are portraying the cast called Madam Sharon, who is wealthy, lives large, and wants to throw a party,” she said.
“Everybody knows I am very close to Pasuma, and I have featured him, Saheed Osupa, and Malaika in a film before. Also, Mercy Aigbe featured Adewale Ayuba in her film last year. So, I wanted something different, something people would not believe.
“It was not easy getting him but I did and I can say it is one of the best things that happened to me in 2024 because he is such a father.
“He was paid but I will not say I paid him because that is not his fee but he came and was professional.”
The movie, which is the fifth installment in the ‘Alakada’ series, has grossed over N400 million since its release.
Recall that, Toyin Abraham urges Nigerians to avoid pirating her newly released film, Alakada: Bad and Boujee, after a fan was caught recording at a cinema.
The actress disclosed that a moviegoer was recently discovered filming the theatre during a viewing in a poignant comment posted on her X page.
Abraham claims that after being questioned, the person erased the recording, and she decided to release them without taking any further action. She stated:
“We caught someone at the cinema, who came to record Alakada: Bhad and Boujee. She deleted it, and I told them to let her go.”
However, the mother of one made it clear that she would no longer intervene if anyone is caught attempting to pirate her work in the future. She pleaded:
“Please stop recording; if they catch anyone, I won’t interfere again. Please, guys, I am so tired.”
