Nigerian entrepreneur and socialite, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, spoke about why he moved his business from the South-East to Lagos.

He mentioned the South-East’s instability as the main justification for the move in an interview with BBC Igbo.

Chief Priest of Cubana noted that the people living there frequently assist those who do these atrocities.

He underlined how the information that members of the community give to criminals exacerbates the problem.

Cubana Chief Priest further bemoaned the envy among South Easterners which he claimed was the root cause of all the crimes in the region.

In his words:

“There is widespread hunger in the South-East. It is our own community members who provide criminals with information.

“Our people began targeting the wealthy, so the wealthy stopped returning home during festivities. That’s why I moved to Lagos to conduct my business.”

Cubana is in court for a case involving purported naira abuse. His relationship with Afrobeats singer Davido is another well-known fact about him.

After holding the position of general manager at Cubana Groups, he founded Club Xhrine in Owerri, Imo, and departed the company in September 2020.

In 2021, the European American University awarded the nightlife producer a doctorate in science in event and luxury hospitality management.

Cubana was hired by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma as her social media assistant in January 2022. He also denied reports that militants in Imo State had ambushed his convoy the same year.

The news has recently focused on the recurrent gunman assaults in the southeast of Nigeria.

On Thursday, five soldiers were killed by gunmen at a military checkpoint in Obikabia junction in Abia.

The gunmen were said to have been enforcing the sit-at-home directive issued by IPOB when they attacked the soldiers.
