Why I quit smoking weed – Bella Shmurda

Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda stated that he gave up smoking weed because of anxiety.

The hit song “Cash App” singer clarified that he gave up marijuana use four years ago because he was “afraid of the future.”

He, however, admitted that he still smokes cigarettes.

Speaking in the latest episode of the ‘In My Opinion’ podcast, Shmurda said: “I don’t smoke igbo [weed]. I used to but I started having anxieties smoking weed. I started getting scared of the future.

“So, four years ago, I stopped smoking weed. I just take cigarettes and liquor.”

He said contrary to claims that smoking weed boosts creativity, “it wasn’t helping the creativity in my case.”

“Everything I was doing when I was smoking weed, I was having anxieties. At a point, it was affecting me in the studio. I would just be lost in the middle. It wasn’t working anymore. I just have to stop. That was earlier in my career. It wasn’t helping.”

Recall that Bella Shmurda spoke about some of the difficulties he had in his early years, such as having to steal a tricycle (keke) out of desperation for money.

Bella Shmurda revealed that even though he tried a lot of different things, not everything worked out, which made him make bad choices.

The singer recounted a particular deal he signed in the past that did not work out as expected, leaving him disillusioned with the pursuit of success in the music industry.

Faced with financial struggles and the pressure to make ends meet, Bella Shmurda admitted that he resorted to stealing a keke in a bid to obtain the much-needed funds.

The artist expressed gratitude to God for guiding him through those tough times and for his current position in the industry.
