Nigerian musical sensation Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has shed light on his eyesight challenges and frequent reliance on eyeglasses.
Rema honestly disclosed that he wears spectacles to help with his vision in a widely shared interview with Capital Xtra on the renowned red carpet of the 2024 Brit Awards in London, United Kingdom.
The “Calm Down” maestro revealed that he suffers from long-sightedness, which makes it difficult for him to focus on close objects. As a result, he severely depends on eyewear.
The host asked, “Tell us a secret, anything that you’ve never told anyone else.”
The Mavin star replied: “I use glasses. I’m suffering from long-sightedness.”
Rema’s esteemed colleage, Tiwa Savage also recently opened up about her challenges with declining eyesight.
The afrobeats artist opened up about her battle over the last two to three years on Instagram stories, stating that her cloudy vision has made reading more challenging.
She discovered that while her short-range eyesight is troublesome, her long-range vision is somewhat decent after speaking with an optometrist in London.
Tiwa Savage revealed that in order to address the issue, she bought a set of suggested glasses.
She said: “Guys the last two or three years, I have been noticing that I will be squinting sometimes and when I read some stuff, it would be getting blurry.
“And in the last few months, I noticed it got really bad that sometimes I will have to screen grab a message and then go back into my camera and zoom. So when I was in London, I said let me go and see the optician.
“So my long sight is okay for now, he said, not great; but my short sight (shakes her head). Literally, I will be in a restaurant and I won’t be able to read the menu
“But for now, your girl is back and you know I needed to make some luxury and got myself a cartel pair because ABG don’t play. Do I still look sexy?”.
