Nigerian music star Ayodeji Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first African artist to cross 10 billion streams on Spotify.

As of January 2026, Wizkid leads the chart of Africa’s most-streamed artists on the platform. Burna Boy follows with over 9.5 billion streams, while Rema sits third with 5.6 billion. Tems has recorded more than 4.4 billion streams, South African sensation Tyla has amassed 3.7 billion, and Ayra Starr has reached 3.3 billion streams.

Wizkid attained the landmark after more than a decade of chart-topping releases. Drake’s ‘One Dance’ alone accounts for nearly 4 billion streams, while ‘Essence’ has contributed over 334 million.

His third studio album, Made In Lagos Deluxe, stands as his most-streamed project on Spotify, having surpassed one billion streams.

As a lead artist, his most-streamed track remains Essence featuring Tems, with more than 333 million streams.

Meanwhile, American singer Billie Eilish has also broken a major Spotify record, as her song Birds Of A Feather has overtaken Tones and I’s Dance Monkey to become the most-streamed solo song by a female artist in the platform’s history.

Birds Of A Feather recently hit 3.37 billion streams, edging past Dance Monkey, which currently stands at 3.3 billion streams.
