“Wizkid is my guy” – Basketmouth makes u-turn weeks after shading singer

Popular singer and comedian Bright Okputa, better known by his stage name Basketmouth, has given an explanation for why he made fun of music artist Wizkid during Davido’s traditional wedding.

Recall how Wizkid’s cryptic tweet generated emotions when his alleged rival Davido uploaded his pre-wedding photographs to the internet.

In response, Basketmouth said that Wizkid’s post had little significance and that Davido’s wedding was taking over social media. This statement incited criticism from a large number of people, particularly the Star Boy’s supporters.

In a new video, Basketmouth disclosed that the tweet of him shading Wizkid was a marketing technique as he knew it would spark outrage. The comedian cums actor said:

“Wizkid is my guy, what I did was a marketing technique, I knew it was edgy, it would get people talking and it did what I expected it to do, it worked in my favour”.

In another story, Basketmouth encouraged legendary musician, Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, to join the film industry fully.

Basketmouth commended a2Bab for his performance in his most recent skit, The Secret of Lulu, but cautioned him against pursuing a full acting career due to his Tiv ascension.

He claimed to have already started work on a project for 2Baba’s comedic role in the skit.

On his X handle, Basketmouth wrote; “My brother @official2baba we should create something beautiful from this character you played here, I think it’s going to be a masterpiece. My brain don dey cook something already. Think about it blood.”

Meanwhile, 2Baba is yet to respond to his request.

Report recalls that 2Baba has previously featured in some Nollywood movies including ‘Head Gone,’ ‘Make A Move,’ and a cameo in ’10 Days In Sun City.’
