The family of Taiwo Cole, husband of Wofai Fada, the actress, have distanced themselves from the couple’s union.
After Wofai posted pictures from her engagement ceremony with Taiwo, controversy erupted.
Videos from the couple’s Cross River, Calabar wedding ceremony soon went viral on social media.
On Sunday, Taiwo’s family promptly issued an apology.
They declared that they had no knowledge of the marriage and were against the coupling.
The Cole family further declared that anyone claiming to be related to them through this marriage is not acknowledged.
“Images and videos come to our attention showing our son Taiwo getting married to a Wofai Ewa in a traditional ceremony in Ugep, Cross River State,” the statement reads.
“This serves to notify all acquaintances, family, and friends that the Cole family of Victoria Island Lagos are not aware of any marriage ceremony of our Son Taiwo Olakitan Cole, neither did we grant permission nor support in this regard.
“As such, persons parading themselves as new members of the Cole heritage by this purported event is not known nor accepted by the family.
“All publications and documents being circulated about this are to be disregarded.”
Despite the disapproval from Taiwo’s family, Wofai shared a snippet from the marriage on her Instagram page.
