World Cup win: American rapper, Drake, loses $1m bet on Argentina due to betting platform rules

Drake, a Canadian rapper, lost his $1 million bet on Argentina defeating France even though the South American squad won the 2022 World Cup.

Drake was seen selecting the Lionel Messi-led Argentina team to win the match in a video that was shared on Twitter the day before Argentina took on France. According to reports, Drake lost money as a result of the betting website’s policies.

The problem, according to Fox News, was that Drake “placed a wager in a market where extra time is ignored and the outcome is decided using the score after 90 minutes of play.

At the World Cup finals on Sunday in Qatar, Argentina and France were tied 2-2 after 90 minutes of play. They then played extra time, where they remained tied at 3-3, and ultimately went to penalties, where Argentina defeated France 4-2.

Drake would have received $2.75 million, or a $1.75 million profit, had his wager won.

Additionally in November, Drake lost $2 million on a wager that Israel Adesanya would defeat Alex Pereira in a UFC match, which Adesanya sadly dropped.
