Yomi Fabiyi shares update on court appeal for Baba Ijesha

Nigerian actor and film producer Yomi Fabiyi has offered an update on the legal processes involving his colleague, Baba Ijesha, who has been accused of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Known for his work in the Nollywood industry, Baba Ijesha was previously arrested and sentenced to five years in prison for allegedly abusing a minor. The minor in question happens to be Damilola Adekoya, also known as Princess, another colleague.

Yomi said in a recent interview with Kolaolootu Live that there isn’t any hard proof to back up the idea that Baba Ijesha acted inappropriately around the child.

He implied that the judge’s decision to spare the troubled actor from a life sentence was motivated by this dearth of proof.

Princess had phoned Baba Ijesha to film a skit, according to Yomi, and her foster daughter corroborated the claim in court.

Yomi further asserted that the victim is not 14 years old as has been popularly assumed and that the man who had sex with Princess’ foster daughter is free to go about.

He said,

“Baba Ijesha’s appeal process is still ongoing in court. There was no evidence that he slept with the girl; that was why the judge didn’t sentence him to life imprisonment. He was called by Princess to shoot a skit, and the girl also said in court that she was called to shoot a skit. The person who actually slept with the girl is walking freely. The girl’s age is not 14. They never gave the court her birth certificate. We are waiting for the appeal court judgement.”
