You must accept me, I’m part of the sisterhood – Bobrisky unmoved by award backlash

Nigerian crossdresser Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, popularly known as Bobrisky, has spoken about the tension surrounding his ‘Best Dressed Female’ award.

The crossdresser won the ‘Best Dressed Female’ title and received a prize of N1 million at the Beasts of Two Worlds movie premiere held on March 24 at Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos State.

Since then, there has been a surge of criticism on social media as Nollywood stars expressed their dissatisfaction with the situation.

Among them, Toyin Abraham expressed her astonishment and disbelief in a video upon learning that Bobrisky had won the title of Best Dressed Female.

Another actress, Dayo Amusa, released a video criticizing both the organizers and Femi Adebayo for declaring Bobrisky as the winner.

Singer Portable also entered the fray, going as far as releasing a diss track to mock the effeminate man.

Amid the ongoing controversy, Bobrisky, appearing unfazed and even enjoying the drama, has stepped forward to address women and all those who do not appreciate his personality.

The crossdresser urged people to accept him as he is and emphasized that women must embrace him as part of their community because he considers himself part of the sisterhood. Bobrisky wrote:

“Respect people how they want to be addressed. I can see a lot of women coming out to say different things. I will not insult anybody. I love women. They are the most powerful gender in the world.”

“See, you guys have no choice; you have to accept me. I am part of the sisterhood. Do you hear me? You have no choice, so deal with it. Deal with.”

Bobrisky however, highlighted that he won the award because he dressed according to the movie premiere theme and made a fashion statement.

He also revealed that Femi Adebayo wasn’t the person who picked the winner. He added:

“We had three judges at the event who decided the winner. All Uncle Femi did was to announce the results he was given.”

Meanwhile, Nigerian filmmaker and actress Eniola Ajao has finally spoken out about the controversial Best Dressed Award presented to crossdresser Bobrisky at the premiere of her film “Beast of Two Worlds.”

The actress while speaking in a TV interview said the aforementioned decision was taken simply for clout, in a bid to promote her movie.

Eniola Ajao made it known that it was a deliberate decision to pick Bobrisky as the winner as it was all a publicity stunt and marketing strategy to promote her movie.

The mother of one acknowledged the controversial nature of the crossdresser, explaining that her decision to award him the title of Best Dressed Female was intended to generate more publicity for her project.

Eniola Ajao appealed to Femi Adebayo, Dayo Amusa, women, and all affected parties to forgive her, as it was not her intention to offend anyone.
