Zack Orji: National Hospital speaks on referring ailing actor to private facility

The National Hospital Abuja, NHA, refutes claims of having directed veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji to seek medical attention at a private hospital.

This information is conveyed through a statement signed by Tayo Haastrup, the spokesperson for the National Hospital Abuja, on behalf of the Chief Medical Director.

Veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji became unwell and was subsequently admitted to the hospital.

The hospital’s spokesperson mentioned that the actor, admitted on New Year’s Eve and initially placed in the intensive care unit, underwent stabilization and was subsequently transferred to the ENT ward. Haastrup further explained that later, Orji was moved to the orthopedic ward, where surgeons initiated preparations for his surgery.

He said, “The attention of the National Hospital Abuja has been drawn to a publication insinuating that the Apex hospital referred the Nigerian Actor Zack Orji to a private hospital in Abuja.

“To set the record straight, the actor, who was brought in on New Year’s Eve and admitted to the intensive care unit, was stabilized by National Hospital Abuja and moved to the ENT ward. Later in the day, he was transferred to the orthopaedic ward, where our surgeons began preparing him for surgery.”

According to him, “Leaving Against Medical Advice” form which Orji’s relatives signed on January 1, 2024, thwarted all preparations for his surgery.

He mentioned that the hospital’s management extends their wishes for the veteran actor’s swift recovery.
