Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday said the state has discharged 37 more Coronavirus patients after they tested negative twice for the virus.

Lagos State had on Tuesday discharged 60 coronavirus patients who survived the virus.

He said the patients were discharged from the state’s isolation facilities in Yaba and Eti-Osa (Landmark) to reunite with their families.

“It gives me great pleasure to tell you that today, 37 more #COVID19 patients have been discharged from our isolation facilities at Yaba, Onikan and Eti-Osa (LandMark) to reunite with the society.

“The discharged patients are 19 females and 18 males including 1 Indian.

“The patients, 5 from Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, 25 from Onikan and 7 from Eti-Osa (Landmark) Isolation Centres were discharged today having fully recovered and tested negative to #COVID19 in two consecutive test readings,” he said.

The governor said with this, the total number of cases successfully managed and discharged from its isolation facilities had risen to 358.

According to Sanwo-Olu, what this indicated was that while the numbers of confirmed cases were rising, Lagos was also maintaining a significant discharge rate of active cases.

While we are encouraged by this, I will like to remind residents that the  ease of lockdown is not an excuse for us to rush out. We must remain safe by following the advice of our health experts.

“Wash your hands, wear mask and strictly observe the principle of physical distancing. Together we can break the chain of community transmission,” he said
