Again, Bandits attacks Katsina community, kill 18, injure 22 others
A statement by spokesman of Katsina State Police Command, Superintendent Gambo Isah, explained the bandits had gone to the village in search of food but were resisted by youths.
He said the resistance prompted the bandits to open fire on them.
The statement said: ’’With sad note, yesterday we received information of armed bandits numbering over 200 that attacked kabiso village of Faskari local government area
‘’According to the report, the bandits came with the intention to steal food items but unfortunately some youth came out and confronted the bandits bare hands’’
‘’The bandits opened fire on the innocent people as at yesterday 14 of them were reportedly killed while 26 taken to hospital.
“We also received information from the area Commander that four additional victims died again.
“All agencies are doing all they could to restore peace to the front line areas of Katsina state.’’
The Nation recalled two prominent citizens of Katsina, including the District head of Yantumaki village in Dan Musa Local Government Area and an APC chieftain in Batsari Local Government areas were killed recently during banditry attacks.
On Tuesday, a man and his daughter were kidnapped in Yantumaki village, sparking oprotests by who barricaded major highways in the area, demanding urgent government’s intervention.
