A lot has been written about billionaire Tunde Ayeni, especially as regards his run in with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and most recently his fallout with friend of many years, Captain Idahosa Okunbo better known as Captain Hosa.
In both cases the other sides took to the public space directly or through proxies to paint unflattering pictures of Ayeni, who outside of stating his side of the story in the business dispute with Captain Hosa, has opted to battle allegations against him in court.
“Ayeni is far better than he has been luridly painted. All those vilifiers just spewed images of Tunde Ayeni that do not exist and it’s sad because Ayeni is far and away from such and rather deserves to be celebrated for many of the things he is doing and is not making any noise about” highstreet.ng learned.
One of these initiatives by Ayeni worthy of celebration according to those in the know dates back to as far back as 1999.
“He has been giving scholarships to twenty (25) students who gain admission to different universities in his home town every year since 1999” a source disclosed.
The checks by highstreet.ng revealed that the billionaire from Iyah-Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi state indeed has a foundation for such – the Oluwatoyin Ayeni Educational Foundation.
Insiders disclose that the foundation is named after his late mother.
Added information has it that beneficiaries of the Oluwatoyin Ayeni Educational Foundation scholarship – 25 students annually – are selected based on academic excellence.
“For one person to be doing that for the past twenty one (21) years is truly worthy of celebration in my opinion and I am sure a lot of people will feel the same” a source asserted.
Insiders insist the scholarship is outside of a lot of empowerment schemes and support Tunde Ayeni is doing to help people in and outside of his Iyah-Gbede, Ijumu, Kogi State.
Ayeni, a 1990 graduate of Law from university Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, was called to Bar 1991. His compulsory National Youth Service Corps service was with Professor S. A. Adesanya & Co., a firm of Legal Practitioners.
