Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Adamu Mohammed has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He will, however, first serve in acting capacity.

The appointment effectively ends efforts by IGP Ibrahim Idris, who clocked 35 years in service tomorrow, January 15, 2019, to get service extension.

Idris had a meeting with Buhari on Monday[today] on matters relating to retirement plan.

The meeting started around 4.30p.m when the President returned from a function organised by the Sultan of Sokoto’s Foundation for girl child education at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
