Director General, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Maj. Gen. Sule Zakari Kazaure, on Monday disclosed that the monthly allowance of corps members would be increased in line with the increment in national workers’ wage.
Speaking during the 2019 Batch A orientation held at Sagamu, Ogun State, Kazaure who was represented by acting Director, Corps Welfare, Mr. Abdul Rasheed Sanusi said: “We have a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the wages commission that each time salaries of public servants are increased, that of the corps members too will take a very relative position.
“There is no doubt about that, it is going to be done by the grace of God.”
The DG did not disclose when the increment would take effect or which batch of corps members would receive the minimum wage.
Earlier, the Ogun State, NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Belinda Faniyi while addressing the 2019 Batch A corps members said a total of 2,498 were admitted to the Shagamu camp.
She urged them to seize the opportunity of the 21 days orientation camp to equip themselves with the needed skills that would help them in future.
