Ganduje said that the exercise was designed to expose front line health workers such as doctors, nurses and laboratory technicians to the use of PPE as well as safety and precautionary tips.
“They are being trained on the use of PPE so that they can protect themselves and also teach others how to protect themselves,” he said.
Ganduje disclosed that the trainees would be posted to the three mega isolation centres to carter for the over 2,000 Almajiri (Islamic school pupils), currently quarantined at the facilities.
According to him, the three mega centres are located in Kiru, Karaye and Gabasawa Local Government Areas.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that over 2, 000 Almajiri children were evacuated and transported to Kano from other states in past weeks.
Ganduje said the state government accorded special attention to the safety and well being of the evacuated Almajiri pupils by constituting a special response team, to examine and protect them during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said that those among the Almajiri pupils found to be negative would be returned to their parents while those who tested positive would be retained, isolated and treated.
