COVID-19: Three suspected cases test negative in Ondo

Three persons who were isolated after presenting symptoms associated with the dreaded corona virus have been released to go home after their test returned negative.

They were isolated at the State Infectious Disease Hospital.

Ondo Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, who disclosed this while receiving items donated by the Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID-19) said the state is currently treating 10 confirmed cases.

Items donated were 100 iron beds, 100 metal cupboards, 100 mattress, 100 pillow, 100 beddings, three work tables, one single bowl industrial sink, one double bowl industrial sin, two four levels rack shelf, two three levels service trolleys, 100 drip holders, 1000 disposable mask, 500 face shields, 5000 gloves, 500 googles, five patient monitors, 25 Oximeters and 25 Sphygmomanometers.

Dr. Wahab urged other corporate organisations and individuals to contribute their quota to the fight against COVID-19.

Spokesman for CACOVID-19, Akinbode Akiola, said the group decided to mobiise fund to support the government because of the negative effects of COVID-19 in all spheres of human activity.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in his remark said the fight against COVID-19 was not over.

Akeredolu urged Ondo residents to continue to observe protocols put in place to prevent contracting the disease.

He appealed to security agencies to apply strict measures at the borders by only allowing approved vehicles into the state.

The Ondo Governor said those not on essential duties as well as vehicles not carrying food and other essentials must be turned back.
