Eid-el-Kabir: TRACE deploys 350 personnel to highways in Ogun
Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) says it has concluded plans to deploy over 350 officers to major highways to check reckless driving in the state during the Eid-el-Kabir festival.
Mr Abdul -Fatai Ogunyemi, the TRACE Corps Commander, made this known in a statement signed by the Corps Public Relations Officer, Babatunde Akinbiyi, on Thursday in Abeokuta.
Ogunyemi said that TRACE would have a Special Patrol Operation throughout the state for the Eid-el-Kabir and the annual Ojude Oba Festival.
He said that the command would deploy over 350 operatives, 25 patrol vehicles and 20 tow trucks in collaboration with the Hired Tow Operators (HTO).
The exercise, according to the TRACE corps commander, will involve monitoring of all motorists and other road users for safety of lives and property.
“This willl take place especially at diversion points and construction areas at the 5km stretch from Sancrete to Fidiwo, around Alapako/Ogunmakin, Oremeji/Ibafo, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
“Inclusive is the Owode-Ijako-Iyana-Ilogbo axis of the old Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, where road re-construction is on-going.
“This is to ensure timely clearance of obstructions, prompt emergency service and collaboration with other security agencies.
“The exercise will also involve all road users through the TRACE Traffic Whistle Blower Initiative and the TRACE Community Based Traffic Management Scheme, under the auspices of the TRACE Emergency Traffic Service (TETS),” he said.
Safety on our roads, according to him, is a collective responsibility.
Ogunyemi felicitated with Muslim faithful and admonished them to reflect on the reason for the season.
He urged them to be safety conscious, as well as observe strict compliance with traffic rules and regulations.
Ogunyemi warned that any vehicle that contravened any traffic law during the festivals would not be released until Sept. 2 when the Corps would have ended its Special Eid-el-Kabir operation.
