El-Zakzaky’s trial begins in Kaduna
The trial of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, commenced on Thursday at the Kaduna State High Court.
Concise News understands that the embattled cleric was brought to the court in a black Prado SUV by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Today’s trial comes on the back of confrontation between El-Zakzaky’s supporters and policemen as the cleric’s loyalists demanded his release on Wednesday.
El-Zakzaky has been in detention since his arrest by operatives of the DSS in December 2015.
He was arrested following a clash between followers of his group and soldiers in the convoy of the Chief of Army State, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, in Zaria, Kaduna state.
