Emir of Daura survives COVID-19, Buhari thanks hospital staff

The Emir of Daura Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar has recovered from COVID-19 and discharged from the Katsina Medical Centre.

An elated President Muhammadu Buhari shared the delightful news on Thursday.

”I am happy to hear of your heart-touching experiences, successful treatment and discharge from hospital after ten days, a part of which was spent in intensive care.

”Given the times we are in, we were all worried about you during that period.

“I am very pleased that you came out healthy,” the President said.

Buhari also applauded the dedicated and hardworking hospital staff of the Federal Medical Centre Katsina.

He similarly thanked other frontline health workers, serving various patients in many hospitals across the country.

”The country is fortunate to have such a dedicated medical workforce,” the President said.

He added that his administration will continue to take all necessary measures within means to boost their morale.

The Emir of Daura was rushed to hospital last week Tuesday after suffering from high blood pressure and fever.

He was said to be unconscious and was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit.

Governor Aminu Masari, a day before had put the Emir’s palace under quarantine, after coronavirus cases exploded in the state.

The first index case of the virus was recorded in Daura weeks ago.
