FG deploys 1,600 NSCDC Corps to protect cows in Zamfara

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) has deployed 1,600 corps to Zamfara State with a view to ending farmers/herders’ clashes and protect cattle ranches.

The officer in charge of the unit, Assistant Commandant General Adamu Soja, who said this at the launch of an Agro Ranger Unit in Zamfara, noted that the officers would give protection to critical agricultural investments and to protect ranches against cattle rustlers.

Soja said the personnel would be using horses other than vehicles and are specially trained in that regard and they would ride horses where motor vehicles cannot access.

He noted that after the formal launch in Zamfara they would move to Kaduna, Niger, Taraba, Kogi and Nassarawa states.

In his remarks, the deputy governor of the state, Ibrahim Muhammad, hoped that the programme would help in restoring peace and security across the state.
