Fire destroys property worth millions of naira in Anambra
Property worth millions of naira have been destroyed in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State by fire incident.
The incident happened at about 3pm Friday at a bush axis of a hotel in Abagana.
Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed this to reporters on Friday in Awka.
However, he disclosed that there was no loss of life, while investigations were on-going to determine the cause of the inferno.
Mohammed said security operatives had cordoned off the area to prevent hoodlums from looting.
According to the police, “following the distress call, Police patrol team led by DPO Abagana Division CSP Prince Ugochukwu Ezejiofor rushed to the scene and alerted the fire service department.
” The fire was put off with the assistance of volunteers. The area was cordoned off by the Police to prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of the situation to loot. Cause of the fire is yet unknown and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed”
“Consequently, no loss of life and no casualty recorded. The case is under investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident please” Mohammed said
An eye witness who spoke with The Nation but pleaded anonymity, said the fire incident was as a result of carelessness from the people.
