Today they Shout ‘Hosanna’.
Tomorrow, ‘crucify him’.”

The social media space has been in a frenzy over the comments of ace gospel minstrel, Tope Alabi on the ONIDURO song from the fast rising star, Yinka Alaseyori. Tope Alabi condemned the song as lacking in spirituality. The result is a huge backlash from the social media space.

Beyond the spat are these 5 lessons for all to learn:

LESSON 1. Never be too comfortable with your fan base that you think they will never turn against you when you goof. The crowd’s attention span can be pretty fleeting. You may lose them just like that.

LESSON 2. Never be too judgemental, especially on creative works. You do not have monopoly of knowledge or a unique divine access to deep things of life.

LESSON 3. The crowd tend to usually support the little fellow. So, when you are big and already established, don’t get confrontational with the upcoming ones.

LESSON 4. Don’t get too carried away with your stardom that you assume an air of invincibility. You may be demystified. It’s too risky for you to dabble into needless controversies. Always be circumspect.

LESSON 5. When you goof, don’t try to further justify your position by being indifferent. Quickly apologize and move on.

My Take – Tope Alabi is a fantastic gospel music artiste. Yinka Alaseyori has also shown great promise. A gospel collabo of the two will be amazing. Tope Alabi should quickly extend a hand of love to her and make a duo happen.

Meantime, the fans should cease fire. Tope Alabi has paid her dues, we should give her the benefit of the doubt.

Let’s love them both.

BLESSED the Holy Bible says to the peacemakers. So, Peace to all!!!
