Gunmen abduct two lecturers in Kaduna

Unknown gunmen have abducted two lecturers, said to be brothers and indigene of Kebbi State in Mahuta community of Kaduna State.

Speaking about the development, the spokesman of the Kebbi State Indigenes Association in Kaduna State, Garba Muhammad gave the names of the two lecturers as Dr Adamu Chinoko and Dr Umar Chinoko who worked at different institutions of higher learning in the state.

While Dr Adamu Chinoko is a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, his brother, Dr Umar Chinoko lecturers at the Kaduna Polytechnic.

Dr Adamu Chinoko was the first to be kidnapped by the gunmen on Thursday, according to the spokesman.

He said, “From there, he too was abducted and taken hostage by the kidnappers.

“Dr Umar Chinoko went to pay a ransom of N2 million and new motorbike the kidnappers demanded and he too was held.

“After they collected the ransom, they also held him hostage and demanded additional N5 million before they could be freed.

“As I speak to you he is still with the abductors.”

The spokesman also added that the representative of the Emir of Zuru, also known as Wakilin Zuru, was aware of the unfortunate incident.

Meanwhile, as of the time of filing this report, the police image maker, DSP Yakubu Sabo is yet to confirm the incident.
