Gunmen kill 6, kidnap lawmaker’s son in Zamfara
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed six villagers in Gorar Namaye and abducted two sons of a federal lawmaker from Zamfara State.
Residents said that dozens of gunmen arrived at the village on motorbikes around 2am yesterday and entered the residence of Alhaji Yahaya Chado Gora, member representing Bakura/Maradun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives where they abducted two of his sons identified as Muhammad Nasir Yahaya Chado and Junaidu Yahaya Chado.
It was gathered that the gunmen later released the younger son, Nasir and then dashed into the bush with the eldest, Junaidu.
“They gave the one they released a phone number and asked him to take it to his father for negotiations.
“While the gunmen were getting out of the village they saw a group of people at one tea joint and opened fire on them killing at least six persons. Several others sustained injuries during the attack,” one of the residents said.
Sources informed our reporter that the kidnappers have made the demand of N10 million as ransom and that those killed in the attack have been buried.
The spokesman of the state police command, DSP Muhammad Shehu, said the gunmen abandoned the other victim when a team of security operatives engaged them.
“The police thereafter rescued the victim after their timely intervention.
“You know three people were killed after the residents of the town attempted to resist the move of the gunmen to go with the victims.
“The gunmen started shooting indiscriminately into the crowd. A search and rescue team was dispatched and they are combing the forest to rescue the other boy,” he added.
