Makinde swears-in Oyeleke as new commissioner for environment
A substantive commissioner for the Oyo State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Mr. Idowu Oyeleke was on Thursday sworn in by Governor Seyi Makinde.
Oyeleke’s appointment is coming barely three months after the death of the immediate past-commissioner of the Ministry, Kehinde Ayoola.
Ayoola died on May 14, after a brief illness.
Speaking at the brief swearing-in ceremony, Governor Makinde charged the new commissioner to ensure his appointment benefits the entire state and not his political zone alone, noting that the task before him is a huge, especially now that the state government is unveiling a new architecture for solid waste management.
The Governor who noted that the appointment is purely on merit promised that whatever is due to anybody irrespective of political or religious affiliations would be given to such individuals.
He, however, expressed optimism that the new commissioner to deliver on the task before him by giving dividends of clean environment to the people of Oyo state.
He challenged the new commissioner, just like his other counterparts to be ready to give an account as his administration is run on the policy of openness and accountability.
Speaking with newsmen after the ceremony, Oyeleke thanked the Governor for giving him the opportunity, privilege and the trust reposed in him to serve the people of the state and pledged not to betray the trust.
Acknowledging that the task before him is the most challenging as a result of the attitude of the people towards waste disposal, Oyeleke assures that he would immediately integrate public enlightenment to let the people appreciate that cleanliness is close to godliness.
