The new Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Kenneth Ebrimson, on Wednesday, resumed duty, with a pledge to hit the ground running with physical policing.

The new police commissioner made the pledge, while briefing newsmen at the official handing over ceremony, held at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) base in Abeokuta.

Embrimson, who took over from Bashir Makama, was until his deployment to Ogun, the Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom.

“You have to expect robust policing, high visibility, physical policing on the ground.”

“I have been in a theatre of war. I have been in a theatre where there were criminalities, banditry, cattle rustling and kidnapping.  So I have what it takes to cage some of these crimes. I’ll soon hit the ground running.

“My officers will also hit the ground running. The tripod I will stand on is physical policing, intelligence gathering and respect for human right and human dignity. I will ensure better service delivery to the people of Ogun state,” he said.

The police commission also urged journalists and the citizens to support the police with useful information that could enable the command succeed in its vigorous fight against crime and criminality in the state.

Ebrimson described Ogun as a familiar terrain, having previously served as an Area Commander at Sagamu.

“This is a familiar terrain. The environment is very familiar to me. I have served in different parts of this state. I was DCO, Ilaro; I was a staff officer at Eleweran; I was a DPO at Idiroko; I was an area commander at Sagamu area command and I left a legacy there,” he said.

The police commissioner also enjoined the officers to be professional and rededicate themselves to the discharge of their duties.

NAN reports that CP Imohimi Edgal, who resumed as police commissioner of the state last Monday, was again redeployed out of the state.

Meanwhile, the former police commissioner, Makama urged the officers and men of the command to be professional and remain dedicated to their duties.

He solicited for support for his successor in order to succeed in his assignment.
