Renowned Nigerian Lawyer, Olufunke Abimbola-Akindolie has been awarded the Member of the Order of The British Empire (MBE) by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth ll.
Olufunke scooped the award for her contributions in bringing diversification to the legal profession in Britain. She has been visiting schools to inspire young people about the law practice. Olufunke is presently a senior lawyer with the world’s largest biotech and also the most senior black lawyer working within the United Kingdom’s Pharmaceutical industry.
The multi-award winning solicitor has several Awards to her name. In 2015; she won the Precious award for “Outstanding Woman in Professional Services”, Women4Africa’s award for “Career Woman of the year Award”, National Diversity award for “Gender Role Model” and Inclusive Networks awards for “Inspiring Member of the year”. In 2016, she won the “Outstanding Diva and International Diva of Colour” awards held in London. She is also a diversity Campaigner with National and European Recognition for her legal and diversity work.
The announcement of the award was confirmed via a Twitter post shared by the Royal family.
It read: “For years, Olufunke Abimbola- Akindolie has worked to help diversify the legal profession. She regularly goes into The Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) award was established by King George V on June 4, 1917. It is a rare award conferred by the Royal family as an honour on distinguished individuals who carry out charitable and public services in the Arts and Sciences.
