NiMet predicts thunderstorm, rains for Thursday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms and rains across the country with prospects of cloudy conditions over Nguru, Potiskum, Dutse and Yelwa during the morning hours for Thursday.

NiMet made this known in its Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Wednesday.

It envisaged thunderstorms over Kano, Nguru, Dutse, Yelwa, Gusau, Maiduguri and environs later in the day.

The agency said that day and night temperature in the northern states would be in the ranges of 29 – 31 degree Celsius and 21 – 23 degree Celsius respectively.

The agency predicted thunderstorms and rains over Bauchi, Minna, Lokoja, Jos, Yola, Jalingo, Lafia and Abuja during the morning hours with scattered thunderstorms across the central region.

NiMet added that day and night temperature in the region would be in the range of 30 – 32 degree Celsius and 22 – 24 degree Celsius respectively except for Jos that will be between 24 and 16 degree Celsius.

According to it, cloudy conditions are expected during the morning hours with chances of moderate rainfall over Calabar, Benin and Ikom axis.

It predicted rains over the inland cities of Shaki, Ijebu-Ode, Ondo, Umuahia, Abakaliki, Enugu, and the coastal cities of Port-Harcourt, Yenagoa, Uyo, Eket, Calabar and environs in the afternoon and evening hours.

NiMet envisaged that day and night temperature in the southern region would be in the range of 28- 31 degree Celsius and 21 – 23 Celsius respectively.
