The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, has set up “Peace Clinic” in Benue, Taraba, Borno, Zamfara and other troubled areas in the country.

According to Gana, to find lasting solutions to the conflict in the troubled states, the Corps has finalised the deployment of over 500 chartered mediators/conciliators of the corps certified by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The clinics are to promote peace in liberated areas since the military had won the war, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Okeh, said in a statement on Monday.

Gana said that the service is to guide Nigerians through the crisis management process, and ensure that “their voice is heard, leading to real change.”

He charged the Corps’ specialists to “put in their best wherever they may find themselves, adding that “you must justify the enormous resources that were deployed to give you such world-class training as peace specialists.’’
