The Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo has allayed the fear of the people of Ogun State over the alleged planned attacks during the governorship and the House of Assembly elections in Ogun State on Saturday, Punchng report.
Osinbajo said this on Wednesday while addressing traders at Kuto, Itoku, Lafenwa and Panseke markets in Abeokuta, the state capital during a mega rally.
Osinbajo led the campaign train of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun state ,Dapo Abiodun in some parts of Abeokuta.
Osinbajo, who was supported by a former Governor of the state ,Segun Osoba and others, toured some parts of Abeokuta including Kuto ; Ibara ; Sapon, Itoku, Lafenwa ; Omida ; Akin-Oluglbade and Ake where the rally was terminated.
It was gathered that , Osinbajo took over the responsibility of leading the campaign, following the suspension of the state Governor ,Ibikunle Amosun from the APC.
Amosun had, prior to his suspension, led the campaign train of his favourite candidate, Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied Peoples Movement.
Osinbajo said the security reports reaching the Presidency indicated that some people in the state had been threatening to unleash mayhem during the election.
The Vice President explained that the move was to discourage the electorate from coming out to cast their votes on Saturday.
Osinbajo said, “We will do all humanly possible within the ambit of the law to provide adequate security for all and sundry during and after the coming governorship and houses of assembly elections in the state. So, don’t panic, as we are up to the task ahead.
“The coming governorship election in Ogun State is very crucial and we should all come out and vote. You are to cast your votes for Prince Dapo Abiodun as the Ogun state governor. Also, vote for all House of Assembly candidates of the All Progressives Congress.
Also, speaking at the mega rally, Osoba advised the people of the state to cast their votes for Abiodun as the next governor of the state.
The governorship candidate of the APC, who was accompanied his running mate, Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the Lagos West Senator, Solomon Adeola and other chieftains of the party appealed to the people of the state to come out en-masse on Saturday and cast their votes for him as the governor of the state and the party’s House of Assembly candidates.
