The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) and Partners have unveiled the list of distinguished guests for an event commemorating the 2021 International Youth Day in Lagos.

This was revealed in a statement released by the National Information Officer, UN Information Centre (UNIC) Nigeria, Dr. Oluseyi Soremekun on Tuesday and obtained by the NewsClickng.com.

The International Youth Day is commemorated every year on 12 August, bringing youth issues to the attention of the international community and celebrating the potential of youth as partners in today’s global society.

To mark this year’s event, UNIC in partnership the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) to organise a symposium on Transforming Food System: Youth Innovation for Human & Planetary health. This coincides with the 60th anniversary of NIIA.

The event is scheduled to hold on Thursday, 12 August 2021 at 10.00 a.m. at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), 13/15 Kofo Abayomi St, Victoria Island Lagos.

Those expected for the event include; H.E. Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria; H.E. Edward Kallon, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria; Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija, Exceutive Vice Chairman, Famfa Oil Ltd; Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly; Mr. Sunday Dare, Hon. minister of Youths and Sports Development; Oba Abdulwasiu Lawal, Oniru of Iruland and Director General of NIIA, Prof. Eghosa Emmanuel Osaghae.

The second phase of the event, also in partnership with UNIC partner to be held virtually is scheduled as follows; UNIC in collaboration with Strategy for Mentoring Initiative and Leadership Empowerment (S.M.I.L.E) is organizing a Panel Discussion on Transforming Food System: Youth Innovation for Human & Planetary health.
