Osogbo decides its political future, insist on producing successor to Aregbesola

As the second term tenure of Governor Rauf Aregbesola near its end and the political activities leading to the election of a successor builds up, the Osogbo Affairs Forum (OSAF), comprising of all Osogbo-born professionals, youth groups, institutions and organisations is leaving no stone unturned to produce the next governor of the state.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed the governorship election in the state for September 22, 2018.

Arising from its maiden Osogbo Assembly held on Monday, June 18, at the Osogbo City Hall, the forum urged all political parties participating in the governorship election to present only Osogbo indigenes as their flag bearer.

It said the assembly will reconvene again after the party primaries to finally adopt a candidate after due consultations with various stakeholders.

In a communique issued and signed by the chairman, Prof. Waheed Babatunde Yahya; Vice Chairman, Dr. Kamoru Oluwatoyin Kadiri and the secretary; Mr. Asimiyu Badru, the forum noted the following;

1. Osogbo is ready to take its rightful position in State and produce the next Governor of Osun State.

2. Osogbo parades quality, qualified, competent and very sound contenders/aspirants in the 2018 Governorship race across all political parties in Osun State.

3. Osogbo is willing to see the next Governor who will sustain and build on the current infrastructural development in Osogbo as the Capital City and Osun State, as a whole.

4. Osogbo charges all indigenes to strive and ensure that indigenes of Osogbo emerge as the Governorship candidates of their various political parties.

5. Any political party that presents an indigene of Osogbo as its Candidate at 22nd September, 2018 election, will enjoy massive votes from Osogbo.

6. The general assembly, will hold again after the conduct of the Governorship Primary Elections of all the political parties of Osogbo and take a firm decision on the next line of action.

7. Osogbo must produce the next senator for Osun Central and member of Representatives for Osogbo Federal Constituency

8. The move enjoys the full support of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Abidemi Oyetunji Olanipekun, Larooye II, the Ataoja-in-Council and the entire Osogbo Progressive Union (OPU), under the Chairmanship of the Worldwide President, Ambassador Abdul-Rasaq Siyanbola.
