Osun 2018: Disregard purported endorsement of Adeleke by Osogbo – ODF

156

The attention of Osogbo Development Front (ODF), has been drawn to a release circulating widely on social media purporting that Osogbo as a town, has thrown her weight behind the governorship candidacy of Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke at a reported meeting of Osogbo stakeholders claimed to have held somewhere in the capital city.

The said statement also claimed that Osogbo sons and daughters have also agreed to jettison their political aspiration as found in Osogbo Agenda for what the writer of the said piece, described as landmark development that would be witnessed after the Ede-born politician might have emerged as Governor of the state.

It is on this note that ODF has come forward to unequivocally debunk this claim as the town has never struck any accord with any of the candidates on where to massively put her votes come September 22, 2018.

This is a lie from the pit of hell and should rather be taken with a pinch of salt by well meaning members of the public and the good people of Osogbo.

The said meeting claimed to have been attended by the political and business elites of the city, could at best be described as an assemblage of selected partisans; perhaps of Osogbo extraction whose goal was to further their personal and business interests. The outcomes of the said meeting as publicized in the report will easily make genuine sons and daughters of the soil to wonder how such people could have bastardized the idea of the Osogbo Agenda.

For the promoters of this evil spin, the Osogbo Agenda transcends party and personal importance. It symbolizes the journey of a people towards a political emancipation and therefore could not be buried under any partisan and individual interest. It is even laughable and incredible that these individuals could have even arrogated to themselves the powers to decide and make such an important political decision for the people of the ancient city.

We, at the ODF, hereby call on all Osogbo sons and daughters to disregard in its entirety, the claims as being peddled by these political merchants masquerading as Osogbo political and business leaders.

At this moment, patriotic sons and daughters of Osogbo have their eyes fixed on a particular platform where her son has already been given a deputy governorship ticket. This is where the interest of the town lies and not in a party or candidate where the city’s sustainable future would be sacrificed on the altar of pecuniary relationship.
