Osun NUJ: Kikelomo Owoeye emerges first female Chairperson as Federated Chapel elect exco
Kikelomo Owoeye of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), was on Friday elected as the first Chairperson of the Federated Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osun State Council, EyewitnessMedia reports.
The new executive members were sworn in at an inauguration attended by prominent members of the NUJ, including the State Chairman, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu, having passed through different stages of screening.
In her acceptance speech, Kikelomo thanked members of the Chapel for the support through which she emerged as the Chairperson, the first female to attain such status in Osun NUJ.
“The newly inaugurated Exco will ensure that we work hard to improve on what our forebearers have laid down. We will bring in new members to the Chapel which ought to be the largest Chapel within the State Council. We will prioritize proactive and regular Member/Stakeholders Engagements in order to build a strong, vibrant and viable chapel in the council.” Kikelomo assured.
Earlier in his address, the founding father of the Chapel, Bishop Seun Adeoye, expressed his heartfelt joy over the level of progress in the Chapel, urging the new Exco members to be determined and focused on getting the Chapel to the next level.
While addressing the gathering, the NUJ Chairman challenged members of the Chapel to be active in all activities of the union at the state level, noting that more is required of the new Exco to put Federated Chapel in the right direction.
Also, a senior member of the Chapel, Chief Tope Abiola in his address thanked Bishop Adeoye for creating a great platform that has helped qualified journalists to identify with NUJ, noting that it is a core duty for the new Exco members to work hard and make the Chapel great.
Other prominent members of NUJ present at the event were Dr. Awofadeju Peter and the immediate past Chairman of the Chapel, Sesan, who expressed confidence in the ability of the new Exco members to perform optimally.
Aside from the Chairperson, other members of the new executive are, Yusuf Adewale Adetoyese (Vice Chairman), Damilare Arowosafe (General Secretary), Asiyanbi Kunmilola Pauline (Treasurer) and Olufunke Adenike Adeleke (Financial Secretary).
